Can you drive with winter tires in summer?

Now mandatory in certain mountain regions, equipment for driving in winter can be a constraint for motorists. Winter tires must be installed in December and then replaced when the nice weather arrives. Many people then get into the habit of keeping them in summer, but is this really allowed?

ARE WINTER TIRES ALLOWED IN SUMMER?

Legally, it is entirely possible to keep your winter tires all season. There is no law in France which prohibits driving with snow tires outside of the winter season. You will therefore be able to continue driving with winter tires even during the summer months. The law only prohibits the use of studded tires during certain periods.

Their use is limited in time, between the weekend following November 11 and the end of March. A sticker should also be placed on your rear window so that other drivers can be alerted to the equipment you are using. A speed limit of 90 km/h must also be respected on any road.

IS IT ADVISED TO KEEP YOUR WINTER TIRES ALL YEAR ROUND?

However, it is not recommended to keep snow tires all year round. At first glance, this is a more practical choice for motorists, since they will not have to change their entire set of tires in winter and spring. In fact, these tires are specifically designed for winter climate and are not suitable for high temperatures. They use thermo gums capable of maintaining their elasticity even below 7°C. However, their rubber is not designed for the high temperatures of the summer season.

Problems could arise with braking distance, forcing you to constantly reduce your speed for safety reasons. Winter tires are also noisier and will wear out more quickly.

WHAT SOLUTION FOR SAFE DRIVING IN ALL SEASONS?

Very practical in winter, the snow tire therefore has certain limitations inherent to its composition which encourage it not to be used during other seasons. To be able to drive safely and efficiently in summer as well as in snowy weather, you can turn to more advanced equipment such as Musher over-tyres. Based on unique technology, these approved accessories can be used for driving on snow, ice and asphalt for up to 30 km. They have several clear advantages for motorists.

No complex handling will be required to install them on your tires: installation is done in 5 minutes, with compatibility for all vehicles available on the market, including non-chainable models.
Musher over-tires guarantee maximum adaptability in all seasons.

Unlike standard snow chains and snow socks, which can only be used on snow and ice, these accessories can be used without danger on dry asphalt. Musher's exclusive snow sock is a simple and practical way to replace the use of winter tires.

This solution is particularly suitable for drivers located in geographical areas where snow equipment is mandatory under the Mountain II law. These products allow you to drive on snow-covered terrain without risk. You will no longer need to change your tires or wear them out.c
